For the past few months, I've been directing at an amazing creative agency called Glass & Marker. It was formed by several of my high school friends who, in three short years, have made incredible ads for Google, Yahoo, Soylent, and a million other Bay Area tech companies. In the past, they'd pinged me to lead an animated commercial, but recently decided to throw me into the deep end to do live action. The commercial was for a company called Nimble VR whose aim is to bring your real hands into the virtual world.

Meet the Nimble Sense. This little device is a depth sensing camera that tracks the human skeleton for user input. It allows people to use their hands to interact with virtual reality, along with computers, games and screens in the real world too.

All throughout production, I couldn't stop thinking of this:

And this...

We spent nearly a week shooting interviews, real-world and VR use cases for the technology, and concepts for how it could be implemented in the future. It was incredibly fun getting behind the (non-animation) camera again to put this commercial together. The company, cast and crew are all proud of the video and product, so please give it a watch.

Speaking of which...Nimble VR launched their Kickstarter today so if you're interested in experimenting with this device or just investing in the future, definitely check it out. These guys have brought tomorrow one step closer to today.
