I'm immensely proud to announce that the ludicrously long titled game I've been working on for a year is out now world-wide.
Holy moly, that is a lot of words, but there are really only a few things you really need to know though.
1) It's Guardians of the Galaxy! Hell yeah!
2) It's a Telltale Game!
3) It can be downloaded now!
This game series has taken the creative energy of a massive team of writers, designers, artists, engineers and production staff to make it shine. They've all been working tirelessly for the past year to bring this brand new space-faring series to life while totally re-inventing how a Telltale game can look and feel. I'm personally indebted to each and everyone of them. (If any TTG devs are reading this, please come by my desk to collect)
When I set out to write this episode, I had only one consideration in mind — the fans. I wanted to make a game that was true to the spirit of the Guardians movies and the comics while allowing YOU, the player, to control who Peter Quill becomes. We know a bit about Star-Lord's backstory from the film, but what about Rocket, Gamora, Drax and Groot? In this game, you'll get to dive into the lives of each and every one of them (more on that with Episode 2!).
The Guardians are such a wild, unique, bizarre, complicated family of characters that when you put them all in a room together, the entertainment value is explosive. While playing this game, I urge you to click on every single thing you can and replay the story in completely different ways. There are TONS of little surprises and easter eggs to find along the way too that Guardians and Marvel fans alike will enjoy, especially in the ship's email system (hint! hint!). Though we've used it as a marketing gimmick before, in this series your choices truly do matter. If it says "Rocket will remember that." he seriously will remember it many scenes and episodes down the road. Roleplay as Peter Quill however you like, but know there will be serious repercussions for your actions. As we're currently in production on Episodes 2, 3, 4 and 5, I know that what you choose in this first episode will ripple downstream for the next ten hours of gameplay. Sometimes, it ain't easy bein' Star-Lord.
Okay, enough of this reading nonsense -- go play the episode! I'm going to sit back, relax and enjoy a drink of... whatever Drax is drinking.
